#Scandal – Condoleezza Rice – College Football

CondiKerryCondoleezza Rice has been named to the College Football Playoff Committee. This committee will select the teams that will play in their version of a playoff system.  Condoleezza Rice has been on the record for years about her love of the sport and desire to be a part of football in a professional capacity as even possibly a commissioner.  You would think (or at least I did) that this would not warrant a public outcry, but alas, former Auburn head coach, Pat Dye, had some rather harsh if not idiotic words.

“All she knows about football is what somebody told her,” Dye said, according to AL.com. “Or what she read in a book, or what she saw on television. To understand football, you’ve got to play with your hand in the dirt.”I love Condoleezza Rice and she’s probably a good statesman and all of that but how in the hell does she know what it’s like out there when you can’t get your breath and it’s 110 degrees and the coach asks you to go some more?” Listen to the comments here.

I’m so glad that Michael Wilbon of PTI(Pardon the Interruption – go to 8 minute mark) on ESPN had the guts to say what this is really about.  They do not want a woman on the committee.  It’s ok for us to buy the jerseys and game tickets, but to be a part of the process, that’s another story.  Let’s take a look at Condoleezza Rice’s bio:

– Associate Professor of Political Science
– Provost at Stanford
– National Security Advisor
– Secretary of State

Hmmm.  Maybe she’s overqualified.  Of course, having just watched Scandal, this scenario immediately brought to mind this scene with Olivia Pope and her dad about having to be twice as good.
